The Minutes of an informal computerised (Zoom) meeting

The Llantwit Major Lodge no. 9241

The Minutes of an informal computerised (Zoom) meeting held

Tuesday, 16th December at 7.00 pm.

The meeting was arranged by the Senior Warden, W. Bro. Mike Thomas as a result of a suggestion by the Grand Lodge Officer, W. Bro. Vincent Bennett.  W. Bro. Vince suggested it would be good for the members to get together before Christmas, if they so desired, to exchange Christmas greetings and to discuss the future.  W. Bro. Mike approached the W. Master W. Bro. Richard Andrews to seek permission for the meeting and ask if he would front the gathering – the W. Master agreed whole heartedly.

  1. Bro. Mike Thomas asked Bro. Dave Cox if he was able to, and if so, organise and set up a ‘Zoom’ meeting prior to Christmas – Bro. David circulated the members and it was agreed  that Tuesday the 16th December at 7.00 pm would be ideal.

The meeting went on ‘Air’ 6.45 pm and one by one the members logged on with W. Bro. Mike acting as the Host / D.C. until 7.00 pm when the W. Master assumed the chair.  W. Bro. Mike asked W. Bro. Tony Hilliard if he would kindly act as secretary and record the evenings proceedings to keep the meeting legitimate.

Those in attendance were:

Mike Thomas, Dave Cox, Richard Andrews, Archie Reynolds, Harold Jones, Vince Bennett, Rob Fry, Andrew Hixon, John Hatherley, Tony Fraser, Bob Baron, Roy Williams, Dave Pearce & Tony Hilliard.   (If I have missed anyone please let me know)

  1. Bro. Richard, after a general exchange of social good humour greeted those present, and then individually enquired after their welfare. He then wished them and their families well.
  2. Bro. Vince in his capacity of a Gd. Lodge officer congratulated and thanked Harold Jones for his contributions thus far, as our Charity Steward and the W. Master on his generous contribution to the AEPWCt Christmas fare. He also went on to thank W. Bros. Ian, Roy and those members  who had been working in the background raising money for the widows etc.

Reports were given regarding the health of Bros. Gordon Sweeting & Trevor Warren, both are in very poor health – Rees Evans is O.K. but Doreen his wife is in hospital – David Pearce is making good progress – Rob Fry is O.K. and working from home having had the dreaded Covid, he explained it was like a very heavy cold.  Andrew Hixon speaking from his Sauna said he was in fine form having had the Covid 19 vaccination.

The meeting was generally one of light hearted social intercourse, catching up with the past, reporting on absent members, and members health generally, all conducted in the best possible taste.

At the closing W. Bro. Mike enquired if the brethren had enjoyed the occasion and would they like to continue with the meetings – it was generally agreed that we should continue with Zoom meetings on a fortnightly basis, the next meeting to be in the New Year when we could discuss and agree an agenda – Grateful thanks were given to Bro. David Cox who said he would contact the members next year, with arrangements for a second get together.

The meeting concluded at 7.55 pm when the Master toasted all present and wished them Seasons greetings.
